From time to time I have the chance to do some fun projects for friends and family and small businesses.
I’ve had the honor of getting to design wedding invitations for my friends and family. From owls to dinosaurs riding bikes it’s always a fun challenge to try to capture the personality of the couple while still maintaining a professional design. This is probably one of my favorites, who doesn’t love dinosaurs, paisley and pizza? The challenge with this project was how to combine all of those elements in a style that wouldn’t look like a child’s party. After a few variations the couple settled on the origami dinos, and the final design was mailed wrapped in string with an origami dinosaur. After completing the invitations I created a coordinating map and program for their big day.
A local family photographer approached me about creating a simple logo, blog template, and package design to help launch her new business. She wanted something that was clean and soft, that would also showcase her bohemian style while still maintaining an air of professionalism. I played around with creating a few iconographic versions before she decided she wanted something that was a word mark that she could also use as a watermark on her images.
This was just a small promotional brochure aimed at raising sponsors for a cyclocross team. The original logo was a great inspiration for the final design, coupled with some sweet 90’s grunge effects and muddy tire marks to truly capture the feeling of race day.
